Library Blind Date
Single? In a relationship? “It’s complicated”? No matter! During the entire month of February, you can head to the Suring Area Public Library and have a mysterious assignation. Or as many as you like.If you’re up for a rendezvous, all you have to do is check out one of the books on display. They are all wrapped in brown paper, and you won’t know the identity of your blind date until you get it home.
Will it be fiction or non-fiction? Funny, informative, entertaining, or heart-breaking? Spend some time getting to know your date. There will be no uncomfortable questions to answer, no awkward lulls in the conversation, no need to put on nice shoes (or even get out of your pajamas).
Sure, you might be disappointed; but then again… you may end up having a great time with something you would otherwise never have ventured to read.
On the back of each book is a ‘Rate Your Date’ slip: if you’re so inclined, you can say whatever you want about it. Your ‘Rate Your Date’ slip is your entry to the drawing.
Even if your date turns out to be a dud, (don’t worry; its feelings won’t be hurt), all is not lost! With each slip you return, you can enter a raffle. One lucky Blind Dater* will win dinner for two at the Boarding House in Suring.
Stop by the Suring Area Public Library between February 1 and 28. You might get lucky; if not in love then perhaps in literature.
The lucky Blind Dater will be notified on March 1st and will also be in the March edition of the SAPL News.
This event is open to all ages, but the books have come from all areas of the library and may not be appropriate for all readers.
*The winning Blind Dater must be in good standing with the library. If the winner's account has mroe than $5.00 in fines a new winner will be drawn.

Santa's Mailbox
December 1st thru December 22nd, 2012
Did you know that Santa is an avid reader? He enjoys a good book when he is not busy getting ready for Christmas. Since Santa comes into the library so often, he asked us if we would be willing to help him out by collecting the letters from all the children that visit our library. Bring your letter into the library (or come in and write one with the special paper Santa left for you) and put it in his mailbox.
We will make sure Santa gets all the letters when he visits us to get his books. Once Santa has the letters he told us he puts them through his Naughty or Nice meter. All children who are nice will get a letter back. Have you been good this year?
Santa was Here!!!!
Did you write a letter to him? When Santa was picking up his books he brought some letters back. I think there are letters for the good girls and boys. Come into the library and find out.
